Swosti Group to set up lake side luxury resort at Chilika

The resort will cater to the needs of the high end domestic and foreign tourists visiting Chilika
Expanding its presence in the hospitality sector, Swosti Group, a major hospitality and travel company in eastern India, is setting up a high-end luxury resort beside the Chilika lake at an investment of about Rs 80 crore.


The 'Swosti Chilika Resort', spreading over nine acres of land, is located between Barkul and Rambha and about two hours' drive from the capital city, Bhubaneswar.


"The resort will cater to the needs of the high end domestic and foreign tourists visiting Chilika. We are hopeful that the new property will start partial operations by October 2016," said JK Mohanty, chairman and managing director, Swosti Group.


The construction work has started in April and an international firm from Thailand has been engaged to set up the property, he added. The 70 keys lake side resort will have 35 villas and 36 hotel rooms.



Out of the total nine acres of land, construction will be taken up on 1.5 acres and there will be landscaping on balance 7.5 acres. The room and villa tariffs will be above Rs 4,000 and Rs 7,000 respectively, Mohanty added.



The major attractions of the resorts are houseboats, spa, spa on the houseboats, yoga centre, lush green landscaping, business centre, library, handicrafts souvenir shop, water sports, water scooters, facilities for water surfing, boating facilities around 26 hideaway islands.



The other facilities will include horse riding, kennel , badminton and tennis court, mini golf course, bird watching tower, bicycle tours for foreign tourists, village tours, boat restaurants, lake side open air tandoor restaurant, sports bar, facilities for conference, lawn for marriage facilities.



With the addition of new property, the room strength of the Swosti Group will cross 300. The city based hospitality company has two properties in Bhubaneswar and one at Gopalpur in Ganjam district. It has also acquired land parcels at Puri, Satapada and Bhitarkanika, all coastal areas within the state, for future expansion.
